Our
Photography Style
As
a wedding photographer, there are basically two different
ways to approach a wedding or event. One is in a traditional
portrait manner in which I control the event, the people,
the poses, the lighting etc. A wedding photojournalist
documents the life as it happens. The approach of the
wedding photojournalist is to tell the story of the event
without taking any control. He/she does not need to pose you
before taking shots. More shots are taken using this
approach and at the end of the day a full story of the
wedding is told with the pictures. Which approach do we use?
It depends on what the bride and groom wants. However, we
greatly advise our clients to go for the photojournalistic
style. At the same time we still do some posing with the
bridal portrait, family and friends sessions.
What
is a Professional Wedding Album?
Perhaps
it is easier to describe what a professional album is not.
It is not an inexpensive 3 ring 100 page magnetic book, a post bound
scrapbook, or a simple 3 1/2x5 or 4x6 pocket style camera
store album. Any of these items of which you can get at Wal-Mart
or any other general store. Rather, it is an album that
accepts all sizes of professional prints from 10x10 to 3
1/2x5, mounted into a matted page or flush mounted on an
archival page, and viewed without the need to turn the album
sideways.
There
are basically two types of Professional Albums, Traditional
Matted and Flush Mount, or Art book style, of which have
become very popular.
The
two types of bound book type albums are
available through high end professional studios. One is an
actual library book where the pages are custom designed and
are bound into the book's spine. Generally these albums are
the most expensive. The second type of book has a one piece
cover that accepts individual pages into its spine receivers.
If the page edges are gilded gold or silver, it is hard to
tell this album from a fully bound book since both have an
elegant block look to them.
Traditional
Matted Albums have the prints mounted in mats, then placed
in Leaves (pages), photo-corners can also be used to mount
your prints in the desired location on the page. Prints can
be removed from the album, repositioned, or often times
prints can be added to an album.
Flush mount albums have a design layout of the prints for
each specific page printed & mounted on the pages, you
can also mount individual prints in this way in the desired
layout. Once the prints are mounted they are permanent. They
can not be removed from the album, it is more like a bound
book with pictures. Some Flush mount Albums give you the
flexibility to add or remove leaves, these are not bound
books.
Which
Album should I choose?: If you want an everlasting album that
will preserve your photos, I recommend you get either the matted
leather album or the Flush mount. The flush mount albums are
the latest wedding story book being requested by brides. It
is a little bit expensive than the traditional matted album
because the photographer has to design the book and have the
pictures mounted on the pages. Designing a flush mount album
require a strong creative skill by the photographer and the
ability to use a specialized software from the
manufacturer of the book.
